Weekly Weigh In – Week 6

Friday has arrived, and you know what that means: weekly weigh in. The sixth week since I’ve been tracking the number and posting it here for all to see.

But, before we get to the number lets talk about my goals last week, and what I did this week in order to end up with the number I did.

Last Weeks Goal: Last week my goal was to hit the gym at least three days a week, which meant waking up and going at 5 AM–a full hour and ten minutes before I had to be up.

Result: I’m embarrassed to say, it simply didn’t happen. I set the alarm, but I was just so sleepy when it went off that I couldn’t get out of bed. I did however make it a point on the days when I didn’t have Tae Kwon Do to take the kids out for a 30 or 40 minute walk. Not quite what I had in mind, but still something.

This Week’s Goal: I’m going to try again this week to add in at least 3 days of the gym, because I think it is the next big step in my fitness journey. It is still going to be really hard to get up at 5AM and go, but I’m going to try my best.

So now what everyone is here for: what did the scale say?

I wasn’t stoked about weighing this week, because like last week I didn’t do great. There isn’t a cool family trip to blame this time, I just fell into a 3 day spiral binge. I talked about why and how I planned to recover here, but suffice to say I had to work hard the rest of the week just to make sure I didn’t gain too much.

  • Beginning Weight: 335 pounds / 58% Body Fat
  • Previous 8/3: 314 pounds / 51.9% Body Fat
  • Current 8/10: 314.2 pounds / 52.8% Body Fat

Weight Loss This Week: Gained 2 ounces / Gained almost 1% Body Fat

Total Weight Loss: 20.8 Lbs / 5.2% Body Fat

It is my first gain, and I’m not going to lie and say it isn’t disappointing. However, I don’t feel like I’ve ever felt in the past when I’ve gained instead of lost. This time I kept very clear track of what I ate, even when I was on the binge. That means I know exactly what I did wrong, and how to go about correcting it. If I had made the gym this week I likely would have still lost, so that will be a big help adding that.

I promised at the start of this I would never hide the failures I have, because I think that is undermining the entire picture of the journey. It isn’t just a before and after photo, it takes a lot of hard work. Failing is a big part of any success story, so I’m going to keep going. Hopefully I have better numbers to share next week.

See you next week everyone, and have a wonderful weekend!
